Guastavino International Piano Competition 2025

SONUS International Music Festival

The SONUS International Music Festival (SONUS-IMF) is pleased to announce the creation of the Guastavino International Piano Competition 2025 (GIPC). This competition, held online with asynchronous evaluation through video recordings provided by the contestants, is open to pianists of all nationalities and ages.

Objective of the Competition

The main objective of the GIPC is to promote and encourage the performance of solo piano works by the eminent Argentine composer Carlos Guastavino (April 5, 1912 – October 29, 2000). Additionally, it offers participants the opportunity to create attractive programs that showcase their mastery and musicality, including compositions from the traditional repertoire and works by 20th and 21st-century composers from the American continent, including North, Central, South America, and the Caribbean Islands.

Organization of the Festival

The festival is organized by SONUS-IMF under the artistic direction of its founder, pianist Nancy Roldán, who personally knew Carlos Guastavino. Nancy Roldán has dedicated much of her professional life to promoting the music of the great Argentine composer, known for his deeply evocative style, high lyricism, and unmistakable harmony.
