Between May 8th and 18th, Paraná hosted the Gustav Mahler International Seminar, organized by the Department of Culture of Entre Ríos and sponsored by the Autonomous Institute of Insurance of Entre Ríos (Iapser). We invite you to watch the full video about the work done, the experience, and the insights of the members and the artistic director of the Entre Ríos Symphony Orchestra, Luis Gorelik.
The recent Gustav Mahler International Seminar in Paraná was a prominent event on Entre Ríos’ cultural agenda. Organized by the Provincial Department of Culture and sponsored by the Autonomous Institute of Insurance of Entre Ríos (Iapser), it brought together nine young orchestra conductors from seven countries: Argentina, Spain, Poland, Chile, Colombia, Greece, and Brazil. Under the direction of Maestro Luis Gorelik, participants attended theoretical and practical classes focused on Gustav Mahler’s symphonies.
The seminar concluded with two concerts. The first took place on May 11th at the Provincial Convention Center (CPC), featuring soprano Silvina Petryna, while the second concert was held on May 18th at the La Vieja Usina Cultural and Convention Center. Both events, part of the “First Time at the Concert” program, allowed numerous residents of Entre Ríos to enjoy the Entre Ríos Symphony Orchestra (OSER) for the first time, with delegations from San Salvador and Ubajay.
The documentary about the seminar explores the pedagogical and artistic process. Through interviews and recordings of rehearsals and concerts, the effort and dedication of the participants and director Luis Gorelik are appreciated. The choice of Mahler as the focus of study emphasizes the complexity and challenge of his works for performers and audiences alike.
Luis Gorelik emphasized the importance of the seminar as a platform for learning and experimentation for young conductors. The dedication of the OSER and the support of the residents of Entre Ríos were crucial to the success of this seminar. We invite you to watch the full documentary.
